Bayern Munich have confirmed that Dante has left the club to join Wolfsburg, per a statement on their official website.
The Brazilian defender had been touted with a move away from the Bundesliga giants all summer, with the Daily Mail reporting that he was a target for Manchester United.
However the 31-year-old has instead agreed a deal across Germany with Wolfsburg where, according to Bayern Munich’s statement, he will sign a three-year contract.
Dante averaged a pass accuracy of 91% in the Bundesliga last season.
The transfer fee has not been disclosed, and the centre-back will undergo a medical at last season’s DFB Pokal cup winners.
In their press release last season’s Bundesliga winners admitted that Dante had asked to leave the club this summer, with Pep Guardiola happy to oblige to the Brazilian’s request.
Dante still made 27 league appearances last season as the club claimed their 22nd Bundesliga trophy.
Twenty of those outings were full games, indicating that the Brazilian was a crucial player for Guardiola last season.
However Bayern hold an abundance of talent in defence, with World Cup winner Jerome Boateng joined by Medhi Benatia and Holger Badstuber.
Spanish international Javi Martinez has also played predominately as a centre-back for Bayern since his move to the club. He missed most of last season due to a ligament injury sustained at the start of the season, but his return to fitness could have prompted Dante’s departure.
Dante joined Bayern in 2012 from Borussia Monchengladbach.
