JAVIER HERNANDEZ has joined Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports.
The Mexican international is set to begin the next chapter of his career in the Bundesliga after failing to force his way into Louis van Gaal's plans.
Van Gaal has made buying a striker before the transfer window closes a pressing priority.
The Daily Mail reported yesterday that United had lodged a £36million bid for Monaco striker Anthony Martial to cope with the loss of Hernandez.
However, it is thought United have not learned whether or not they have been successful with their offer for Martial.
German publication Kicker claims United have struck a £12million deal with Leverkusen for Hernandez.
It is thought a transfer for Hernandez, who spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, will be formally announced today by both clubs.
