Blackett makes Celtic switch

Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett has joined Glasgow Celtic on a season-long loan deal on Saturday.

Blackett, who has represented England at under-21 level, made 11 appearances for the Red Devils last season mainly due to United's injury crisis in defence.

The 21-year-old will be delighted to be joining the club as he seeks regular first-team football.

However, he will be disappointed that the Hoops narrowly failed to qualify for the Champions League in midweek when they went down 4-3 on aggregate to Swedish outfit Malmo.

"Celtic are delighted to announce the signing of Tyler Blackett on a season-long loan from Manchester United," read a statement on the Scottish club's official website.
