Bristol City vs Burnley preview - Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill wants new players before Burnley game

Bristol City go into Saturday's Championship clash against Burnley with manager Steve Cotterill hoping to strengthen his squad with three new signings before next week's transfer deadline.

Cotterill is targeting a striker, central midfielder and centre-back, having already recruiited Jonathan Kodjia, Ryan Fredericks, Ben Hamer and Callum Robinson, but he warned that he does not anticipate it being a straightforward task.

"I cannot sell the club any more than I have done. That's the bottom line here," Cotterill told www.bristolpost.co.uk. "At the end of the day, we are nowhere near some of the money floating around out there. These days, if someone is going to offer you double what I'm offering you, then you are not going to sign for me."

Andre Gray is set to make his Burnley debut against the club he recently turned down.

Brentford accepted a bid from Bristol City for striker Gray, but he opted to instead join Sean Dyche's Clarets and become the club's record signing last Friday evening.

Full-back Matt Lowton (shin) is still waiting to make his Burnley bow, though, with the ex-Aston Villa defender pencilled in for a behind-closed-doors friendly during the international break.

Fredrik Ulvestad (ankle), Kevin Long, Dean Marney, Ashley Barnes (all knee), Jason Gilchrist (ankle) and Daniel Lafferty (collarbone) complete the Clarets' casualty list.
