Cowdenbeath 1 - 0 Albion Rovers FC : Spence strike enough for Miners

Posted Sunday, August 23, 2015 by PA

Cowdenbeath had to work hard for their 1-0 win at home to Albion, even though the solitary goal came early.

The Miners hit the front inside two minutes when Greig Spence scored with his first goal for the club, firing into the corner from six yards with his left foot.

It looked as if an entertaining match lay in prospect, but the remaining 88 minutes were cagey and fractured by fouls and bookings as neither side did enough to break the other down.

The home side's Sam Orritt tested Ross Stewart in the Albion goal, and Paul Willis forced Michael Andrews into a stop at the other end. Colin Nish's men were just grateful for their first points of the season.
