Manchester United will be hoping to keep their 100% record in tact when Newcastle visit Old Trafford in the lunch-time kick-off on Saturday.

Louis van Gaal's side recorded successive 1-0 wins over Tottenham and Aston Villa in their first two games of the new season to sit in a four-way tie at the top of the standings.

The Magpies are looking to claim their victory of the campaign, having drawn 2-2 against Southampton on the opening day before slipping to a 2-0 defeat at Swansea last weekend.

United ran out 3-1 victors over the same opposition in the corresponding fixture last term, before securing a 1-0 win at St James' Park towards the end of the season.

David De Gea will sit out a third Premier League match in a row for the Red Devils as Van Gaal still does not deem him ready to take his place in goal amidst continued interest from Real Madrid.

That means a third successive start for off-season signing Sergio Romero, who kept clean sheets against Spurs and Villa.

Van Gaal could hand Bastian Schweinsteiger his first league start, with the former Bayern Munich midfielder having made two appearances off the bench thus far.

However, Marouane Fellaini is still unavailable as he serves the final installment of a three-match ban, while defender Phil Jones misses out with mild thrombosis once again and Marcos Rojo is still lacking match fitness.

Visiting boss Steve McClaren must do without midfielder Daryl Janmaat, who is suspended following his red card at the Liberty Stadium.

But Moussa Sissoko is expected to recover from a thigh strain in time to make the trip to Manchester, while new signing Florian Thauvin is in line to make his debut.
