Queens Park Rangers vs Rotherham United preview - Smithies added to Hoops squad

QPR can add goalkeeper Alex Smithies to their squad for the visit of Rotherham.

Smithies, who this week joined Rangers from Championship rivals Huddersfield, could even be handed a start with regular number one Rob Green tipped to join West Ham.

Winger Jamie Mackie is a doubt with groin trouble and midfielder Ale Faurlin is likely to be rested after making his first start in almost a year in the 3-2 midweek win at Wolves.

Midfielder Leroy Fer, winger Armand Traore and full-backs Yun Suk-Young and Jack Robinson are still out with knee injuries.

Rotherham boss Steve Evans has confirmed Danny Ward will be back in the squad as they make their first trip to Loftus Road since 2004.

Ward missed Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Preston with a foot injury and he could come straight back into the side at the expense of Jordan Bowery.

Evans will monitor Joe Mattock (tight quad), Joe Newell (knock) and Lee Frecklington (groin) ahead of the clash, while Kirk Broadfoot is approaching the midway point of his 10-match ban.

The Millers will be hoping to earn their first win of the campaign after two defeats and a draw from their first three Championship games.
