Barnsley vs Bradford AFC preview - Tykes waiting on Bree fitness
Posted Friday, August 21, 2015 by PA
Barnsley teenager James Bree is hoping to shake off a groin injury in time for the home derby clash with Bradford.
The 17-year-old full-back was forced out of the midweek win at Millwall and replaced by Reece Wabara, who made his first appearance for the club following his arrival last weekend.
Wabara could make his full debut if Bree fails to recover, while head coach Lee Johnson will continue to monitor winger Ryan Williams, on the bench for the last two matches but yet to make his first appearance of the season due to a groin problem.
Johnson has no major new injury worries but said several players were nursing "little aches and pains, bumps and bruises" after victory at Millwall.
Bradford's new loan signing Reece Burke is hoping to be included in the squad after arriving from West Ham this week.
The 18-year-old, who will stay with the Bantams for an initial month, could make his debut at the heart of defence, although Nathan Clarke and Alan Sheehan are both in contention to partner Rory McArdle.
Striker Billy Clarke will play no part due to the knee injury sustained in last week's home draw with Shrewsbury, which the club has confirmed will keep the Irishman sidelined for three months.
Versatile defender/midfielder Christopher Routis is doubtful after being withdrawn in the midweek home defeat to Gillingham due to a tight hamstring.
