Greenock Morton vs St. Mirren preview - Trio out for Morton

Posted Thursday, August 20, 2015 by PA

Morton will be without Frank McKeown, Michael Tidser and Joe McKee as they face Renfrewshire neighbours St Mirren in the league for the first time in 15 years.

McKeown and Tidser both have knee injuries while McKee has a hamstring problem.

Mark Russell is a doubt for a game that manager Jim Duffy is demanding total concentration on.

He said: "This game is a huge one for the fans especially as it has been so long since the last one.

"However the players cannot get caught up in all that as it is just the same three-point prize that is available.

"We will need focussed minds to win."

St Mirren are missing Jason Naismith with a knee injury.

Manager Ian Murray has added former Dundee United and Hibs full0back Keith Watson to his pool to cope with Naismith's absence.

The Paisley side won in midweek against Annan in the Petrofac Training Cup and Murray will restore some of the players who were substitutes in that game to his starting line-up.

Murray said: "First and foremost this game gives us a chance to kick-start our season.

"Bragging rights among the fans would be a terrific prize, however all I am looking for is for us to pick up our first three points of this campaign."
