Sheffield Wed. vs Reading preview - Westwood to miss out for Wednesday
Posted Tuesday, August 18, 2015 by PA
Sheffield Wednesday will be without goalkeeper Keiren Westwood for their home game against Reading.
Westwood was forced out of Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Ipswich after taking a blow to the kidney area and Joe Wildsmith is expected to make his first league start for the club.
Skipper Glenn Loovens and midfielder Sam Hutchinson sustained knocks at Ipswich and will be monitored, but head coach Carlos Carvalhal has no other new injury concerns.
Winger Modou Sougou is hoping to make his first league appearance for the Owls and striker Atdhe Nuhiu is pushing for a recall.
Reading have signed Spanish midfielder Alex Hernandez on loan from Espanyol but are awaiting international clearance.
Another new signing, Peru winger Paolo Hurtado, was getting his work permit validated over the weekend and is unlikely to be thrown in just yet as boss Steve Clarke feels he needs a week of training to get up to speed.
Teenage wideman Tariqe Fosu could be added to the squad for the first time this season, however, having resumed training following an ankle problem.
But Dominic Samuel, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Garath McCleary are set to miss out again through injury.
