Bury 3 - 4 Fleetwood Town : Cod Army edge Gigg Lane thriller

Fleetwood twice came from behind to win 4-3 at Bury and register their first victory of the season.

Having twice equalised to make it 2-2 at half-time, second-half goals by Jamie Proctor and Antoni Sarcevic proved decisive for the Cod Army.

Bury had made a fine start as Leon Clarke outmuscled defender Stephen Jordan to score from Tom Pope's fourth-minute flick-on.

But Fleetwood replied in the 17th minute when right-back Conor McLaughlin headed home from Sarcevic's left-wing corner.

Bury were back in front just two minutes later, though, as Pope nodded down Chris Hussey's left-wing cross for Tom Soares to force in from close range.

Yet Fleetwood levelled again before the break - Bury goalkeeper Christian Walton failing to hold onto Amari'i Bell's cross, allowing Tyler Hornby-Forbes to tap in his first senior goal.

The visitors livened up a quiet second half when Sarcevic got to the byline and his cutback was poked past Walton by David Ball and Proctor pounced to put Fleetwood in front with 21 minutes remaining.

Bury defender Nathan Cameron then pushed Lyle Della-Verde to concede an 82nd-minute penalty, which Sarcevic converted with aplomb.

Danny Rose gave the hosts hope as he bundled in a cross from fellow substitute Jacob Mellis just two minutes later to make it 4-3 but Fleetwood held on.
