AFC Wimbledon vs Cambridge preview - Bulman pushing for start

Manager Neal Ardley may be tempted to hand Dannie Bulman a starting berth as AFC Wimbledon host Cambridge in League Two.

Ardley sacrificed striker Tom Elliott and his preferred 3-4-3 formation at half-time in Saturday's league clash at Crawley, Bulman's arrival heralding a 4-4-2 switch that yielded a 2-1 victory.

But he wants to keep faith with his 3-4-3 style in a bid to exploit his squad's attacking nous and cram striking options Elliott, Lyle Taylor and Adebayo Akinfenwa into the same line-up.

Ardley rejigged his resources to exploit space in behind Crawley on the flanks at the weekend but is just as likely to revert to three at the back against the U's.

Cambridge may consider making changes at the back following a weak defensive display in their 4-4 draw at Carlisle.

Midfielder Luke Berry, who scored the fourth goal to put the Us 4-3 up, highlighted the frailty of his team when they came under attack.

Manager Richard Money has conceded they must be smarter having taken the lead on three occasions and could make changes.

The hectic schedule of three games in eight days might also force Money to rotate his squad as the club prepare for a second successive away game.
