Crawley vs Portsmouth preview - McLeod set to miss out again

Wantaway striker Izale McLeod looks unlikely to figure for Crawley against Portsmouth.

McLeod was again left out of the squad for Saturday's defeat by AFC Wimbledon as he looks to secure a move away from the Sussex side.

Midfielder Conor Henderson is a doubt after missing the last two matches with an ankle problem.

Defender Lanre Oyebanjo is still recovering from a cartilage operation and forward Gavin Tomlin has undergone hernia surgery, with both players not due back until October.

Portsmouth manager Paul Cook is expected to retain the same team that defeated Plymouth 2-1 away on Saturday.

Despite pushing for starts after impressing in last week's surprise Capital One Cup victory over Derby, Danny Hollands and Adam McGurk returned to the substitutes' bench and that is unlikely to change at Crawley.

Cook has no new injury concerns and, unusually for this level, has both options and his team's impressive form to consider.

Portsmouth look among the early favourites for promotion to League One, but Cook said: "There's a long way to go and people have got to try to stay as grounded as they possibly can. I've said all along that there's nothing won in August or September - it's a tough season."
