Reading could add new signing Paolo Hurtado to their squad for the visit of Leeds.
Boss Steve Clarke this week snapped up the Peru winger from Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira on a three-year deal.
Striker Dominic Samuel is set to miss out after he was stretchered off with a knee injury during Tuesday night's Capital One Cup win over Colchester.
Winger Garath McCleary remains sidelined by a calf injury sustained playing for Jamaica at the Gold Cup and forward Pavel Pogrebnyak is carrying a knock, which has kept him out of both the Royals' matches so far.
Leeds will be without midfielder Lewis Cook following his red card in Thursday night's Capital One Cup defeat at Doncaster.
Cook, who had given Leeds the lead, was shown a straight red for an ugly tackle and will begin a three-match ban.
Boss Uwe Rosler is expected to make changes after shuffling his pack at the Keepmoat Stadium, especially as that side played 120 minutes.
Midfielder Luke Murphy made his first appearance of the season after minor knee surgery, while Tomasso Bianchi remains sidelined as he works his way back from his knee operation.
