Oldham Athletic AFC vs Fleetwood Town preview - Jones boost for Oldham

Oldham midfielder Mike Jones has recovered from a knee injury and looks set to return to the starting line-up for Saturday's home game against Fleetwood.

Jones missed the Capital One Cup defeat to Middlesbrough on Wednesday with the problem but is now back to full fitness, according to boss Darren Kelly.

The Oldham manager is debating whether to stick with goalkeeper David Cornell, who saved a penalty in the 3-1 loss against Boro, or recall Joel Coleman.

Striker Jamille Matt returns to Fleetwood's squad after missing the midweek Capital One Cup defeat at home to Hartlepool.

Manager Graham Alexander said the 24-year-old was left out as a precaution but will be fit for the trip to Boundary Park.

Fellow forward David Ball scored four goals in a behind-closed-door youth-team friendly on Wednesday, with captain Nathan Pond and Vanara Sanogo also building up their match fitness in the same game.

The rest of the first-team squad came through the Hartlepool defeat unscathed so Alexander has a fully-fit squad to select from.
