Luton Town vs Oxford United preview - Hatters strike duo in reckoning

Posted Friday, August 14, 2015 by PA

Luton strikers Paul Benson and Jack Marriott are pushing for starts in the home game against Oxford.

Benson scored once and Marriott twice as they eliminated Bristol City from the Capital One Cup in a 3-1 victory on Tuesday.

Manager John Still made eight changes from the team that drew 1-1 at Accrington for Tuesday's fixture and may also retain goalkeeper Mark Tyler after he returned from injury in midweek.

Luton's only likely absentee is Magnus Okuonghae, a summer signing who remains short of match fitness.

Oxford's new signing John Lundstram could make his debut for the club.

The former Everton trainee signed a two-year deal on Thursday and could feature as boss Michael Appleton looks to build on his side's 4-0 Capital One Cup thrashing of Brentford.

With Notts County visiting the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday, Appleton may rest summer signings Liam Sercombe and Ryan Taylor as they continue to nurse pre-season knocks.

Patrick Hoban could make his first start of the season in place of Taylor up front.
