Morecambe vs Accrington Stanley preview - Wildig could boost Morecambe

Jim Bentley has been given an injury boost ahead of the Lancashire derby with Accrington.

Aaron Wildig had to be replaced when the Shrimpers were beaten by Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night, but his injury is not as serious as the medical staff initially feared and Bentley may be able to select him this weekend.

Adam Dugdale (ankle) and Tom Barkhuizen (thigh) are yet to play this season and the duo returned to training on Thursday, although the clash at Globe Arena may come too soon.

Captain Peter Murphy is a long-term absentee, as a scan on his knee has revealed a grade 3 tear to the medial ligaments, which will keep him sidelined for around 12 weeks.

Accrington boss John Coleman has no fresh injury concerns but could make changes after his side took Sky Bet Championship side Hull to extra-time in midweek.

City won 4-3 on penalties and Coleman said he took no pride from the defeat, despite coming close to beating the former Premier League outfit.

Terry Gornell came off the bench to net Stanley's equaliser in extra-time and he is likely to return to the starting XI after leading the line on the opening day.

Andy Procter remains sidelined as he continues to recover from knee surgery.
