Huddersfield Town vs Blackburn Rovers preview - Terriers trio hoping to start

Huddersfield trio Sean Scannell, James Vaughan and Joe Lolley are all hoping to make their first appearances of the season against Blackburn.

Winger Scannell has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Vaughan has missed out through concussion and fellow striker Lolley has had a shin injury.

Boss Chris Powell, who has no new injury or suspension worries following his side's midweek Capital One Cup defeat to Notts County, confirmed all three could be included in his 18-man squad.

Midfielder Jacob Butterfield and goalkeeper Alex Smithies, who recently became a father, are expected to return to the starting line-up.

Hope Akpan could make his Blackburn debut in West Yorkshire.

The former Everton trainee moved to Ewood Park from Reading this week and may be part of Rovers' shake-up as Gary Bowyer looks for a response from the midweek loss at home to Shrewsbury in the Capital One Cup.

Chris Taylor (groin) is the only definite absentee from the east Lancashire club's squad and both Modou Barrow and Fode Koita could appear off the bench having been used from the bench on Tuesday night.

Striker Jordan Rhodes, who returns to his former club once more, is likely to be among those coming back into the starting line-up which will likely more closely resemble those Bowyer deployed against Wolves last Saturday.
