Derby County vs Charlton Athletic preview - Clement to ring the changes

Paul Clement is expected to make changes against Charlton for his first home game in charge of Derby.

After beginning his reign with a goalless draw at Bolton last weekend, Clement swapped eight players for the Capital One Cup trip to Portsmouth and saw his team lose 2-1 to the League Two club.

Jason Shackell, Chris Baird and Johnny Russell were the only one's to keep their places on the south coast. After such a disappointing display, the likes of Scott Carson, Richard Keogh, George Thorne, Tom Ince and Chris Martin will all be pushing for recalls.

Will Hughes is out for six months with the serious knee injury he suffered against Bolton while fellow midfielder Craig Bryson has been ruled out for two to four weeks with a knee injury he suffered at the Macron Stadium.

Charlton striker Tony Watt is an injury doubt for the trip.

The former Celtic frontman grabbed his second goal of the season against Dagenham in midweek but had to go off in the second half with a leg knock.

Last season's top scorer Igor Vetokele is still missing with a muscle problem and first-choice goalkeeper Stephen Henderson remains sidelined by a shoulder injury.

Boss Guy Luzon made six changes to his side against the Daggers so the likes of Chris Solly, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Jordan Cousins and Simon Makienok are poised to return.
