Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has confirmed that David De Gea will not travel to Aston Villa, with the goalkeeper missing a second game in succession.
The Spain international was omitted from the matchday squad for the Premier League opener against Tottenham last weekend due to concerns over his mindset amid on-going interest from Real Madrid.
New signing Sergio Romero made his top-flight debut in the 1-0 win over Spurs and is expected to line up between the posts at Villa Park on Friday night.
De Gea has been included in United's 28-man squad for their UEFA Champions League two-legged play-off tie with Club Brugge, but Van Gaal doesn't believe the 24-year-old is ready to return to action just yet.
Asked whether there would be a change in goal against the Villans, Van Gaal told MUTV: "There's no difference. The transfer period is still open and he [De Gea] has still the same problem."
