Greenock Morton 1 - 1 Falkirk : All square at Morton

Posted Sunday, August 09, 2015 by PA

Morton and Falkirk started their respective Ladbrokes Championship campaigns with a 1-1 draw.

Promoted Morton fell behind to Peter Watson's 19th-minute debut goal but levelled on the hour mark through Peter MacDonald.

Falkirk went ahead when Craig Sibbald's floated corner was flicked on by Aaron Muirhead and Watson arrived at the near post to slide in from close range.

It was a debut goal for the summer signing from Raith and Bob McHugh went close to making it two before the break.

Morton grew into the game, though, and were level on the hour.

Ross Forbes put a corner up and MacDonald was on the spot to put it away.

Falkirk could have won it when John Baird was the recipient of two late chances but he spurned both.
