Brechin City vs Dunfermline preview - Dods can't pick himself

Brechin's player-manager Darren Dods will miss out against Dunfermline at Glebe Park due to a suspension incurred in his days as a Forfar player.

New recruit Dene Shields is absent with a foot injury and there is no place in the hosts' squad for former Hibs, Celtic and Scotland striker Derek Riordan, who played in a trial game in midweek.

Dods said: "Dunfermline will be coming here with confidence high after scoring a few goals and getting a good couple of results.

"We tried a few things down at Ayr last weekend that never really worked out so I will be making changes for this game."

Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston has summer signing Jason Talbot available for the first time after the former Livingston skipper completed a two-match ban for being sent off in a pre-season friendly.

Everyone else in the East End Park squad is available, with Johnston saying: "There is real competition for places and everyone wants to be involved after a good start to our season.

"We have scored nine goals in two games, however we cannot get carried away.

"It is important to start our league campaign well and Brechin is a very difficult venue. They will be out to make up for going out of two cup competitions."
