Accrington Stanley vs Luton Town preview - Stanley stand tall for opener

Accrington look set to give debuts to a number of summer signings in their opening game at home against Luton.

Stanley have brought in eight new faces this summer, including goalkeeper Jason Mooney who is the Football League's tallest player at 6ft 9in. Midfielder Sean McConville has returned for his second spell and will be hoping to start.

Boss John Coleman will be without midfielder Andy Proctor, who is still recovering from knee surgery. Anthony Barry and Gerardo Bruna have been declared fit after recovering from knocks they sustained during friendlies.

Stanley have had an impressive pre-season, including a victory over Lancashire neighbours Burnley, so the side will be in confident mood going into Saturday's clash.

New Luton signings Paddy McCourt and Josh McQuoid face late fitness tests before manager John Still names his squad.

Goalkeeper Elliot Justham will start given Mark Tyler is yet to fully recover from the knee injury that prematurely ended last season for him.

Defender Mark O'Brien is also unavailable due to a lack of match fitness but another new arrival, striker Craig Mackail-Smith, is expected to make his debut.

Luton lost only once in 13 pre-season fixtures, giving them real momentum against Accrington.
