Having spent a season on loan at Anfield, Javier Manquillo has taken to Twitter to thank Liverpool fans for the support over the year.
Still just 21, Manquillo will now continue his development with another loan move, this time at French giants Marseille.
The right-back managed to make 10 Premier League appearances for Liverpool last season and 18 appearances in total, but his raw youth and inexperience meant that he never really featured in Brendan Rodgers’ big game plans.
He did show good pedigree and athleticism in the games he featured in, lasting the full 90 minutes in several Premier League games, and also showing his attacking side by getting forward and providing crosses.
Highly regarded by parent club Atletico Madrid and capped at all Spanish underage levels, Manquillo hopes that the Anfield experience will stand to him in the future.
Marseille have been given the option to buy Manquillo at the end of the loan deal, but the player will surely be hoping that his long-term future is at boyhood club Atletico.
