Mesut Ozil has praised Arsenal team-mate and compatriot Per Mertesacker for his attitude and believes the defender is the perfect role model at the club.
Currently vice-captain at the Emirates Stadium, the 30-year-old German will likely be the on-field skipper this campaign as club captain Mikel Arteta struggles to force his way into the starting XI.
Ozil believes his World Cup-winning team-mate has been key for the Gunners since joining from Werder Bremen in 2011 and expects the 30-year-old's composure and experience to continue to have a positive effect on the squad.
"I always see Per as a role model," Arsenal's record signing told the club's official website. "He always gives everything for the team, you can see that he's determined and wants to be successful. You can sense that on the pitch.
"He's very focused, very professional. He does his job 100 percent. He's not the sort of person who does things by half measures.
"You can see on the pitch that he's fresh and is always there for everyone. We're just really pleased to have him and you can sense on the pitch that he gives everything for the team."
