Spurs set to sign Saido Berahino in next 48 hours

The Sunday Express have an intriguing story at the bottom left of their back page – claiming Tottenham are close to completing the signing of Saido Berahino.

Spurs have long been linked with Berahino who has played alongside Harry Kane for England Under-21s and would look like an astute signing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The Sunday Express is far from the best source but they report that Spurs will pay 15 million pounds for Berahino and that the West Brom striker will not sign a new contract at the Hawthorns as he is desperate to move to White Hart Lane.

So far this summer, Tottenham have brought in defenders, to shore up a back-line that struggled in 2014/2015 and have also shipped out a lot of players.

The likes of Kevin Wimmer, Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld should make Pochettino’s side more secure at the back, but Spurs fans are wondering where the attacking players are.

This is especially relevant since strikers Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor look certain to leave the club this summer.

Soldado and Adebayor would follow Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Benjamin Stambouli who have all already departed.

Berahino was part of the West Brom team that beat Swindon Town 4-1 on Saturday. And, the Spurs squad and officials fly out to the USA tomorrow, for their clash with an MLS all-star team in midweek.
