Manchester United are currently away on their pre-season tour of north America and despite signing four players already this summer, the Red Devils have plenty of business left.

The defence is a priority now having amended the midfield with the additions of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.

Here’s a round-up of the best Man Utd transfer gossip for today.

Ex-Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero is currently in England undergoing a medical in order to complete his free transfer to Manchester United. The Argentine goalkeeper was first-choice as they made the World Cup final last summer, but his contract with Sampdoria expired last month after making just 10 Serie A appearances last season. Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has agreed to join Manchester United this summer as they prepare for the impending exit of David de Gea, with Real Madrid still keen on his signature. The Dutch goalkeeper was Louis van Gaal’s first choice while in charge of the Netherlands and he could be reunited with the stopper. Cillessen kept 12 clean sheets in the league last season. Man Utd will present a formal offer to Valencia to sign Nicolas Otamendi this week. The Red Devils have identified Otamendi as one of their main defensive targets this summer and look set to finally make a move for the Argentine. Otamendi scored six goals in La Liga last season, more than any other defender in the division. (Super Deporte)

Nicolas Otamendi won 115 aerial duels during the 2014/15 La Liga campaign.

Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze has rubbished reports linking him with a move to Manchester United, insisting he wants to stay with the German giants. Gotze scored the winning goal in the World Cup final last summer and has spent this summer reading rumours about his future. He scored nine goals in the Bundesliga last season. (Express)

Finally, Man Utd are ready to trigger Pedro’s release clause of around €29 million at Barcelona this week. The forward is backup at the Nou Camp following Luis Suarez’s arrival last summer, so he needs to leave for first-team football. Pedro scored just six goals in La Liga last season. (Daily Star)

Pedro only played the full 90 minutes in La Liga on eight occasions last season.
