Arsenal transfer round-up: Arsenal to sign Renan, deal agreed for Sanogo loan move

Arsenal’s transfer activity has hit a brick wall in recent weeks and despite the arrival of Petr Cech from rivals Chelsea, supporters will be keen for Arsene Wenger to start making a move in the window.

The Gunners have strengthened well in previous windows, but with just the one signing this summer so far, many supporters are urging Wenger to bolster weak areas within the squad.

It would not have helped when Manchester United completed three signings over the weekend, with Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger all moving to Old Trafford.

The club may be preparing for the coming season with pre-season tours and training, but the rumour mill is still rife and Wenger is keeping tabs on a number of players judging by the speculation.

On that note, here is all the latest on the potential ins and outs at the Emirates.

Wenger has held talks with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and has told the forward Arsenal will sign him, if Rafa Benitez doesn’t play him in the coming season. Benzema’s future is under scrutiny following Benitez’s appointment and Wenger is keeping tabs on the situation, with Arsenal on the look-out for a new forward to provide competition for Olivier Giroud. Karim Benzema completed 32 take ons in La Liga last season.

Arsenal are set to offload striker Yaya Sanogo out on loan once again this summer, but this time to Dutch giants Ajax – who agreed a deal with the powerhouse. The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace, but struggled under Alan Pardew. The Frenchman has had a tough time since moving to North London from Auxerre and Wenger will look to give him another chance to prove himself elsewhere, this time in the Eredivisie. AC Milan have stolen a march on Arsenal and submitted a bid of €21 million (£14.3m) for AS Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli. The Gunners have been tipped to move in for the 20-year-old, but AC Milan are now keen to fill the void left behind by Adil Rami, who joined Sevilla recently. Romagnoli had an 83% pass accuracy in the league last season. (Daily Express)

Staying on the topic of Romagnoli, reports suggest that the offer made by Milan has been rejected and Arsenal have been told £15 million will be enough to sign the young centre-back. It remains to be seen whether the Gunners can  beat Milan to his signature, after Sinisa Mihajlovic worked with the youngster during his time as Sampdoria boss last season – the defender spent the season there on loan. Romagnoli won 35/70 tackles in the league last season. (talkSPORT)

Valencia are keeping tabs on Arsenal goalkeeper David Opsina, as the Colombia international continues to face an uncertain future. The 26-year-old joined the Gunners last year from Nice, but after taking up the No.1 spot from Szczesny, Petr Cech’s arrival has put the shot-stopper’s future in doubt. Ospina kept eight clean sheets in the league last season. (Daily Star)

Arsenal are set to sign 17-year-old Renan from Brazilian club Avai, as Wenger looks to bolster his ranks this summer. The midfielder is attracting attention from the capital after establishing himself as a first team player in Brazil and he could be keen on a move to the Emirates. (Metro)
