Man United boss Van Gaal wants De Gea and Van Persie's exits done by Monday

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Louis van Gaal wants for the exits of David De Gea and Robin van Persie to be finalised by Monday.

United begin for the pre-season tour of the USA after the weekend and Van Gaal will leave the pair behind as their futures are decided.

The squad jet off for their two-and-a-half week trip on Monday and, according to The Mirror, De Gea and Van Persie will not be part of it, with Van Gaal hoping both are sold by then.

Former Arsenal star Van Persie has struggled over recent years and is close to leaving the Premier League after 11 seasons, with Turkish side Fenerbahce set to complete a deal.

Valencia and Atletico Madrid are also interested in the Dutchman but Fenerbahce have opened negotiations over a £12m, three-year deal.

Goalkeeper De Gea, on the other hand, is keen on becoming Iker Casillas' replacement at Real Madrid.

Veteran Casillas is set to join Porto, paving the way for De Gea's long overdrawn move to Spain to finally be completed.

Van Gaal is understood to only want to take players on tour who are fully committed to the club and central to his plans ahead of the coming season.

The Red Devils chief does not want to work with players likely to leave the club this summer, meaning De Gea and Van Persie will not part of the team that leave for the tour on Monday lunchtime.
