Levy on Spurs' transfer plans

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy expects the club to do the rest of its transfer business towards the end of the window after a flurry of early signings.
Spurs have moved quickly to improve last season's leaky defence, adding Toby Alderweireld, Kieran Trippier and Kevin Wimmer, with Levy playing a key role in bringing Alderweireld to the club from Atletico Madrid this week.
It is understood that Tottenham will now concentrate on bringing in a new striker, perhaps even two, and a new central midfield-player whilst continuing to offload unwanted players.
Levy said: "The window will be reasonably busy. We have already brought in four new players since the winter window and we've done deals for players who have now left.
"At the moment it is fairly relaxed. I would anticipate that, as the window goes on, the activity will happen in the last two weeks, but we are trying to do business early where we can."
That early business could have been busier, with Spurs attempting to sign their first-choice striker target Danny Ings shortly after the end of the season, but lost out on the Burnley forward to Liverpool.
They then held talks with Monaco to sign forward Anthony Martial, only for the forward to subsequently sign a new deal at the French Ligue 1 club.
Sky sources understand the club will continue to add young players who have already gained substantial league and cup experience, with a long list of targets to choose from.
Germany U20 international Timo Werner is understood to be on their list and an example of the type of forward they want; under 25, with multiple strengths and a hunger to learn and succeed.
Sources understand any interest in more familiar names such as Christian Benteke and Charlie Austin is not strong as things stand, and likely to be stepped up only if other options are exhausted and the deadline approaching.
