€140M not enough for Bale: Real Madrid reject world record Man Utd bid

Manchester United have failed with a world record bid for Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale.

Spain's Radio Cope reports United tabled a staggering €140 million offer for the Welshman, which was immediately rejected by Real president Florentino Perez.

United made the proposal during talks over a deal for Bale's defensive teammate Sergio Ramos.

Perez is determined to keep hold of Bale, seeing the Welshman as Cristiano Ronaldo's eventual successor as Real's main Galactico.

The Real president also remains determined to prise David de Gea away from United this summer.

Real Sociedad coach David Moyes admitted last month that he tried to sign Bale for United during his time in charge at Old Trafford.
