Sunderland confident of securing deal for Chelsea midfielder

SUNDERLAND are close to securing a deal for Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel, according to reports.

Black Cats boss Dick Advocaat is desperate to strengthen his squad after their brush with relegation last season and Van Ginkel is high on his wish-list.

According to the Metro, Sunderland are in pole position to sign the Holland international on loan despite interest from Newcastle.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at AC Milan, however he is said to be desperate to increase his Premier League game time having made just two appearances  for the Blues.

The Metro say an offer has been made and Sunderland are hopeful they can bring the midfielder to the Stadium of Light.
