Zinedine Zidane is 43 today. In an interview given to 'France Football', the Real Madrid Castilla boss showed his more ambitious side.
When asked whether he would have accepted taking over from Carlo Ancelotti in the Bernabeu dugout, he was blunt: "Yes, I would have taken over from Ancelotti. I'm a professional and I never turn down a challenge".
Throughout the interview, which will be published in full on Wednesday, Zidane looked back over his first year in charge at Castilla. "I've had to be in charge for the first time. It's you who makes the decisions. Being a coach means being alone", added Zizou, who believes that having been a world-class footballer does not guarantee success in the dugout: "It's down to the results and what you give the players who do it all out on the pitch".
