It’s been a busy few weeks for Liverpool in the transfer market, but that won’t stop Brendan Rodgers and there seems to be a new fifth acquisition coming to the club very soon.
The Reds have brought in four new signings – who will all join when the transfer window opens – as Rodgers continues to bolster his squad.
James Milner was the first arrival a couple of weeks ago, whilst Danny Ings followed the England international just days later.
Adam Bogdan was a recent arrival, much to the surprise and perhaps dismay of many Liverpool supporters, whilst the talented young defender Joe Gomez also signed last week.
With the rumour mill rife, here are all the potential ins and outs at Anfield on Tuesday.
Wales international Danny Ward has officially signed a new long-term deal with Liverpool. The 22-year-old was Simon Mignolet’s back up in the second of the 2014/15 campaign, but he’s yet to make his Liverpool debut.
Liverpool are keen to offload forward Fabio Borini this month with Sunderland and Italian duo Fiorentina and Lazio both interested in signing the striker. The ex-Sunderland loanee, who was Brendan Rodgers’ first signing as manager of the Reds back in 2012, has struggled to break into the first team and is expected to be shipped off this summer. Borini scored just one league goal last season. (Mirror)
Liverpool are set to offer young Portuguese defender Tiago Ilori a new deal this summer, as the centre-back continues to impress during his time away from Anfield. The 22-year-old still has two years left on his deal, but he and his agent are keen to resolve his future, with Ilori yet to make a senior appearance since signing back in 2013 – the centre-back has spent the past two seasons on loan at Granada and Bordeaux. Ilori had an 87% pass accuracy in Ligue 1 last season. (Daily Mail)
Liverpool are edging closer to signing Hoffenheim’s highly sought-after attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino. Citing reports from Brazil, it is believed that a five-year contract is already agreed and that the transfer is now expected to go through for Firmino – the 23-year-old has been linked with rivals Manchester United in the past. Firmino created 69 chances in the Bundesliga last season. (Star)
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is extremely keen to offload Spanish defenders Jose Enrique and Javier Manquillo this summer, as well as their compatriot in midfield Luis Alberto. Enrique managed just four league appearances last season, whilst Manquillo was unable to make the right-back slot his own. Alberto did little to prove his quality on loan at Malaga, with Rodgers now keen on moving on from all three. Manquillo managed 10 league appearances last season. (Mirror)
Liverpool target Christian Benteke, 24, will turn down any new contract offers from Aston Villa this summer, fuelling speculation about his future. The young Belgian has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa Park and the latest reports are he will not commit with the Villans. Benteke had a 45% shot accuracy in the league last season.
