Ex-Manchester City star to be unveiled as an Aston Villa player next week

MICAH RICHARDS will be unveiled as Tim Sherwood's first Aston Villa signing next week.

As revealed by Starsport yesterday, Sherwood has convinced the former England defender that his future lies at Villa Park.

The 26-year-old is a free agent after his contract expired at Manchester City.

He will tie up a £65,000-a-week deal when he gets back from holiday and completes a medical.

Richards left City this week after 12 years at the club.

He said: "I just wanted to thank the City fans for the amazing support they've given me.

"I joined City when I was 14 and have been part of a brilliant period in the club's history - winning our first league title in 44 years, winning the FA Cup, playing in the Champions League.

"The club, the manager, the staff who work behind the scenes, the players, but most importantly the fans - everyone - will always have a special place in my heart.

"City's been like a family to me and I wish everyone the best of luck for next season and the coming years."
