"I'm dying to run out at the Bernabeu again"

The announcement of his return to Real Madrid was the latest chapter in what has been a triumphant year for Casemiro.

It cannot be considered the crowning moment yet as things could still get better for the Brazilian if his country conquers the Copa America. The midfielder has been training with his national team ahead of the tournament since last Monday, 1st January.

"I'm leaving so that I can come back", the young anchorman told his inner circle, convinced, when he packed his bags for Porto. Ten months on, he has kept his promise and done so with some fanfare.

Casemiro spoke to MARCA from the Brazil camp, highlighting his joy at earning another shot at 'Los Blancos': "I'm very happy at getting to return to what I consider my home. I'd like to thank Real Madrid and Rafa Benitez for the faith they've shown in me. I'm sure I won't let them down. Playing for Real Madrid is a dream that I don't want to give up on. I'm dying to run out at the Bernabeu again".
