Crystal Palace are considering an ambitious move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Yohan Cabaye this summer, reports the Daily Express.
Cabaye made 24 appearances in Ligue 1 this season, but 11 of those came as a substitute, and he found himself behind Marco Verratti, Blaise Matuidi, and Thiago Motta in the pecking order at Parc des Princes.
The France international is eager to return to the Premier League, and he could be available for £10 million, according to the Express.
While he may not have played as much as he would have liked this season, the 29-year-old still possesses excellent passing ability and an ability to orchestrate his team’s play. He averaged 89% pass accuracy and won 30 tackles in the league this season.
Arsenal and Manchester United have both been linked with Cabaye, as per the aforementioned source, but Alan Pardew may be Palace’s trump card. Pardew brought him to England during his time in charge of Newcastle and brought the best out of him.
Palace were very impressive after Pardew came in for Neil Warnock, and the Eagles came in 10th place, their highest-ever position in the Premier League era. They will be looking to push on next term, and bringing in a player of Cabaye’s quality would be a real coup.
