Rafael Benitez has arrived in Madrid, where he's expected to be named the new coach of Real Madrid this week.
The Spaniard is expected to be named the new Real Madrid coach this week.
"I am enthusiastic and happy," Benitez said to the Spanish press upon his arrival in the capital. "Although there are things that still need to be discussed," he added.
Madrid-born Benitez has been away from Spain since he left Valencia in 2004 to take charge of Liverpool, but he's been strongly linked with a summer return to Real Madrid, where he began his coaching career.
When asked if his dream begins now, Benitez replied: "Yes."
Benitez's two-year stint at Napoli ended last night with a 4-2 home defeat to Lazio, causing the club to miss out on a place in Champions League.
Benitez confirmed it would be his last game in charge at the Stadio San Paolo last week, saying "it's always sad to leave a place where people treat you well."
Real sacked coach Carlo Ancelotti last week after a trophyless season.
