Seaman: Petr Cech will improve “any” team he plays for

Speaking to Squawka, former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman says Petr Cech will improve any team he plays for.

The Chelsea goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and Man United, as per the Express.

And Seaman believes the veteran goalkeeper has all the qualities to help turn a team into a serious title challenger.

Seaman told Squawka: “It’s a tough one because Szczesny or Ospina are not going to be a number two, they’re both expecting to be number one and if you get someone like Cech in you’ll have a situation to deal with.

''However, having said that someone with the quality of Petr Cech is going to improve any team, and wherever he goes, whether that be to Manchester United if De Gea leaves, he’s going to be a number one, otherwise he’s not going to leave Chelsea.

''So it’s going to be really interesting to see where he goes and he would be an improvement to any team.”

Arsenal’s goalkeeping situation has improved in recent years from where it was during the first few years since the club’s move to the Emirates, but there are still concerns about the quality of the two options.

Both Ospina and Szczesny have made errors this term, some more high profile than others, leading to links with Cech this summer.

Meanwhile, at Man United, David De Gea is ready to leave the Red Devils, leaving the number one gap potentially open for a summer signing, as per ABC.

The Chelsea goalkeeper has lost his place in the first team at Stamford Bridge following Thibaut Courtois’ return from Atletico Madrid, and the Czech international will be looking for regular football next season.

Arsenal have improved their league standing this season, finishing the campaign in third place. But having finished far beyond Chelsea, who won the league title with relative ease, Arsene Wenger will be heading into the market to make necessary improvements to his squad.

Cech, at 32, still has plenty of years left at the top of the game and would doubtless see Arsenal improve even further next season.

The world class shot-stopper has kept five clean sheets in six league games this season.

Today Captain Morgan enlisted former Arsenal and Aston Villa captains David Seaman and Andy Townsend for a surprise cup final swap.

Bar staff at iconic London pub the Globe were relieved from their duties to spend the day living like the Captain, while Seaman and Townsend took over behind the bar for one of the busiest shifts of the year.

Surprised Arsenal and Villa fans were greeted by the Captains, who took orders, gave their tips ahead of the game, and delivered an unforgettable pre-match build-up.
