Jeonbuk & Guoan draw ACL clash

Chinese side Beijing Guoan drew 1-1 with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in their last 16 first-leg match in the AFC Champions League on Tuesday at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

Jeonbuk took the lead in the 12th minute when Kim Kee-hee headed home a free-kick from Brazilian Leonardo. The visitor got the equaliser four minutes from time when Pablo Batalla scored with a penalty after Fejzullahu had been fouled by Lee Jae-moung.
Both sides made good starts with with Dejan Damjanovic and Leonardo creating early chances.

In the 12th minute the home side scored when Leonardo’s free-kick was met by Kim and his flicked header from 12-yards beat Beijing goalkeeper Yang Zhi giving him no chance.

Beijing kept trying to break through and get the equaliser but Jeonbuk contained their attacks and ended the half strongly as Choi Bo-kyung and Leonardo threatened to score a number of times.
In the 43rd minute Beijing should have equalised when Fejzullahu found himself with the ball at his feet following a deflection but he hammered the shot wide from close with only keeper Kwoun Sun-tae to beat.

Early in the second half Jeonbuk captain Lee Dong-gook was forced off with an injury and was replaced by Brazilian Edu.

Edu nearly scored when he volleyed wide six minutes before the hour mark before Eninho was denied by the legs of Yang 13 minutes later.

With four minutes remaining Beijing were awarded a penalty for a foul on Fejzullahu by Lee. Batalla stepped up to score sending Kwoun the wrong way to make the final score 1-1.

The return leg takes place on May 26 at Beijing Workers Stadium.
