Getafe 1 : 1 Eibar - Eibar keep survival hopes alive

Eibar ended a run of six straight defeats in the nick of time as they kept their survival hopes alive by coming from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Getafe in the Primera Division on Sunday.

Borja netted the equaliser after 36 minutes to cancel out Fredy Hinestroza's opener just three minutes earlier and earn his side their first point since early April.

The draw kept the visitors in the bottom three, but they are only two points from safety and know a win in their final game of the season at home to relegated Cordoba could keep them up.

Getafe started strongly, exerting plenty of early pressure and got the goal they merited shortly after the half-hour mark.

Pedro Leon swung over a cross and Hinestroza sent a close-range header into the bottom-right corner.

Eibar might have crumbled given their awful form, but instead conjured up an immediate response, Borja heading home following a corner.

The visitors had a let-off in the second half when Juan Rodriguez headed against a post from another Leon cross, but they held out.

And with two sides now still within reach, just above the bottom three, it was a crucial point.

They now need a final-day three-point haul, and to hope either newly-crowned champions Barcelona at home to Deportivo La Coruna or Atletico Madrid at Granada can do them a favour, to pull off a great escape.
