Wolfsburg's Kevin De Bruyne, has revealed that he set in motion his move away from Chelsea last year as he knew his future chances were limited at Stamford Bridge, as per Kristof Terreur on Twitter.
The Belgian star has been one of the best players in Europe this season, helping Wolfsburg climb to second in the Bundesliga. His time at the Blues was less fruitful though, playing only nine games overall for the West London club, hence his desire to move to Germany.
The 23-year-old is said to be a major target for both Manchester United and Manchester City, with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona also said to be keen on acquiring his talents in the summer.
This interest is mainly down to De Bruyne's passing ability, which has seen him create 106 chances this season and register 19 successful assists, the most in Europe's top five leagues, one more than both Lionel Messi and Cesc Fabregas.
He also spent time on loan at Werder Bremen and his first club Genk during his spell at Chelsea. However he has now scored 18 goals in 62 games for the Wolves and could win his first silverware with the club, when they face Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup final at the end of this month.
