Valencia vs Celta Vigo preview - Gomes relishing Champions chase

Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes admits his side face "two finals" in the race to secure Champions League football, starting against Celta Vigo on Sunday.

Valencia sit fourth in the Primera Division, three points ahead of Sevilla with two matches to play.

A win against Celta Vigo would all but seal Champions League football next season but Los Che have also not given up on third as they trail Atletico Madrid by four points.

"All season long we have been fighting for the objective of getting into the Champions League," Gomes told Valencia's official website.

"Now we have two finals; against Celta we want to ensure that we take at least fourth place. We will play to win.

"We must first win against Celta, and then we can think about other goals.

"The main thing is that we focus on ourselves and only ourselves, on beating Celta to secure fourth place.

"After winning we will see what happens and if we can fight for a better place, then we will do.

"If Barcelona beat Atletico Madrid, then that could help us challenge for third, but first we need to win."

Valencia have lost only one of their last 20 league matches at the Mestalla against Celta.

European football is now beyond Eduardo Berizzo's side, who are 10th in the table and 10 points off sixth-placed Villarreal.

Celta can, however, close a three-point gap to seventh and Berizzo admits only a victory will do for his players this weekend.

"We have to win," Berizzo told reporters at a press conference.

"If we aspire to seventh place, a draw would not help much.

"We will go to win against very strong opponents, who are having a really good season.

"Valencia will test us. They will be very organised and will try not to let us find a rhythm.

"It's a team that does not risk too much, so we will have to invest a lot of effort to get them out of their comfort zone.

"If we spend too much time defending it will be bad for us."
