The 25-year-old, who signed for the Tigers from Tottenham last summer, failed a random drugs test after the 2-0 victory away to Crystal Palace on April 25.

In a statement, Hull said: "Following suspension by the FA the club has subsequently suspended Jake Livermore pending further investigations to be made by the FA and our own internal disciplinary procedures.

"The club is unable to make any further comment during this process."

Livermore's suspension is a huge blow to manager Steve Bruce, whose side are currently in the relegation zone and battling to preserve their top-flight status.

With just two games of the season remaining, Hull are third from bottom of the Premier League table and two points from safety.

Livermore began his career at Tottenham, graduating from the academy and featuring in the first team under Harry Redknapp before joining Hull on loan during the 2013-14 season.

He has been capped once by England in a 2-1 friendly victory over Italy in August 2012.
