Ancelotti: "I'd like to stay at Real Madrid"

Carlo Ancelotti expressed his desire to stay at Real Madrid after their Champions League semi-final exit, while conceding that the club "has the right to change the coach".

"I have nothing to talk about. If the club is happy, I could stay. If they're not, they'll make a decision. I'd like to stay here, but I know full well what things are like in football. A club has the right to change the coach if they're not happy", the Italian tactician said. "I'm satisfied because I've had a very good relationship with the players [over the last two years] and constant support from the club; I've felt good. I view my time here positively", continued Ancelotti, going on to banish all discussion of his future until the end of the campaign: "We have to finish the season well and then it'll be the time for talk".

The Real Madrid boss rued his side's "bad luck" in the second leg against Juve. "We gave absolutely everything in this match. We worked hard, played well, created chances… I have nothing to reproach the team for. We're sad, but we have to look ahead", Ancelotti mused.

Continuing on this note, the coach stated: "We were very close; it was a matter of small details. We weren't very lucky, that has to be taken into account. If you consider it lucky to win the Champions League in the final minutes, then we have to speak about luck now too". "Another goal would have put our minds at ease and we had chances. But that's football", he added.

'Carletto' also made a point of praising his troops: "I'm 100% proud of my players, I'd like to thank them because they gave their all. I continue to believe that I have a very strong squad".

Ancelotti was less forthcoming when asked to rate his own efforts: "I don't have to grade myself. I'd always give myself 10 out of 10 because I devote a lot of time to my work. I don't think it's fair for me to give myself a mark; it's up to the club to judge a coach's work".

Lastly, the 55-year-old offered a quick verdict on the final between Barça and Juventus: "Barcelona are the favourites".
