Paris Saint-Germain club president Nasser Al Khelaifi has insisted he would not even look at a €50m bid from Manchester United for Edinson Cavani.
Louis van Gaal is on the lookout for a new striker and has reportedly set his sights on a summer move for Cavani.
The Uruguayan has scored 20 goals in 45 appearances for club and country this season but clashed with PSG coach Laurent Blanc after being substituted against Marseille earlier this month.
Al Khelaifi dismissed suggestions that Cavani could leave the Parc des Princes, even if a big offer from Man United came in.
Speaking about the speculation, Al Khelaifi said: ”I have not held talks with Cavani over his future. He is a young player and is the future of PSG.
''A €50m (£36m) offer from Manchester United? I would not even look at such a bid.
''Edinson needs a bit more confidence, but his last game against Lille, in which he scored twice, was further proof of his talent.”
Cavani’s potential arrival at Old Trafford seems to divide opinion amongst supporters.
On the one hand, the 28-year-old has had an excellent goalscoring record throughout his career. On the other, there is a question mark over whether or not Cavani has enough quality to help United challenge at the very top level. His performance against Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this month suggests he doesn’t quite have the ability to make an impact in the biggest games.
