Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that Hugo Lloris will stay at White Hart Lane this summer despite reported interest from Manchester United, as per the Express.
With the future of United stopper David de Gea under intense speculation, following interest from Real Madrid, reports have been circulating linking Spurs’ captain Lloris with a move to Old Trafford.
It is known that the French keeper hold a strong desire to play Champions League football, something which Spurs will not be able to offer for at least another 12 months.
However Spurs boss Pochettino has moved to quash rumors that his captain is unsettled and has insisted that Lloris will still be under his stewardship next season.
Lloris makes on average 1.88 saves per goal
Pochettino said: “Nothing has changed from four, five or six months ago when we last spoke about the rumour. Hugo wants to play the Champions League here for Tottenham and everything else is just rumours.
''Nothing is true and nothing has changed with the situation. He is happy here and wants to reach the Champions League with Tottenham that is his dream.
''This season realistically it is very difficult to reach the top four. We need to try and we have five games ahead – but at the same time I don’t want to lie. It is not easy to reach the top four.”
Lloris has been excellent for Spurs and has saved his side on many occasions this season. Overall the Frenchman has made 77 saves this season, keeping six clean sheets in total.
Spurs’ number one faces a race to be fit for Sunday’s clash with Pochettino’s old club Southampton, following a badly cut knee that has caused him to miss three successive games.
