Liverpool have kept 13 clean sheets in the Premier League this season
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports that he believes manager Brendan Rodgers is the right man for the job, adding that he doesn’t think a manager’s future should be decided on one game.
After Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on the weekend in the FA Cup semi-final Rodgers has found his position called into question for a variety of reasons, chief of which has been his team’s performances in big games.
The board have given Rodgers their backing and Carragher has leant his views to the debate, saying that he believes Rodgers shouldn’t be sacked because of one result.
He added that he didn’t believe it was Rodgers fault and it was unfortunate that a lot of the players he signed over the summer hadn’t bedded in yet.
''Is he the right man? I think so,
''I don’t think your whole future should be determined by one game. It was difficult with the players that came in and I still don’t think many of them have bedded in yet.”
During the summer transfer window Liverpool lost Luis Suarez to Barcelona for a fee of around £70 million and brought in several players to replace him rather than one or two superstars.
None of the signings made over the summer have really been a success except for maybe Emre Can although some questions have emerged over his pace.
With the club unlikely to be in the Champions League next season they could struggle to attract players.
