Stirling Albion 0 - 2 Greenock Morton: Stirling stung by second-half blast

Posted Sunday, April 19, 2015 by PA

Second-half strikes from Jamie McCluskey and Declan McManus earned Morton a 2-0 win at Stirling.

The home side should have taken an early lead when Chris Paton failed to make the most of some poor Morton defending and Derek Gaston saved.

Gaston also denied Phil Johnston and Gordon Smith as Stirling dominated the opening exchanges but the visitors came agonisingly close to the opener in the 36th minute.

Cammy Binnie pushed a Mark Russell shot onto the crossbar and Ross Caldwell could only head the loose ball over.

Morton scored twice in the early part of the second half as McCluskey slammed in the rebound after a header had been cleared off the line in the 53rd minute and McManus ran clear to calmly slot home the second six minutes later.
