Accrington Stanley 2 - 2 Stevenage Borough: Beardsley bags a point for Boro

Chris Beardsley rescued a point for play-off chasers Stevenage in the final minute in a 2-2 draw with Accrington, who played almost the whole match with 10 men.

It was a disastrous start for mid-table Stanley when, in the second minute, referee Scott Mathieson sent off defender Nicky Hunt for what he saw as a shove on Charlie Lee.

However, the 10 men made the first chance of the game count after 15 minutes. Josh Windass raced down the left wing, beat Dean Wells and crossed the ball for Sean Maguire to fire home from 10 yards out.

It was all square four minutes later when Liverpool loanee Lloyd Jones was judged to have handled the ball in the area and Simon Walton sent goalkeeper Scott Davies the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Despite the visitors putting a lot of balls into the box, it was Stanley who created the most clear cut chances with a Windass effort saved by Chris Day.

From the resulting throw-in, West Ham loannee Maguire got the ball and was again clinical - firing a low shot into the net to put the 10 men ahead after 39 minutes.

And, although they were a man down, Accrington continued to create the better chances with Windass having another effort kept out by the legs of Day.

However, in the 89th minute, Bruno Andrade's cross was knocked down by Bira Dembele and Beardsley hooked the ball home from close range.
